As the Chief Executive Officer and Trustee of Hamdard Foods India, and former Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard, he embodies a new generation of leadership—deeply rooted in legacy yet firmly driven by innovation, expansion, and a commitment to inclusive growth.
He is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer and Trustee of Hamdard Foods India. Born in 1977 in New Delhi, he completed his schooling at St. Columba’s School, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Delhi in 1998. He later earned his MBA from London, UK, in 2000.
Ahmed was appointed as a Trustee of Hamdard Laboratories India in 1995 by his grandfather, the late Hakeem Abdul Hameed, founder of Jamia Hamdard. He formally began his professional journey with the organization in 2000 and assumed the role of CEO in 2016. With over 26 years of experience, he has played a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth and strengthening its presence in the food and Unani medicine sectors.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Ahmed has gained extensive exposure across India and international markets, managing diverse portfolios that have deepened his understanding of regional consumer behavior and industry dynamics. His leadership is marked by a strong vision for innovation, sustainability, and expansion.
In addition to his corporate responsibilities, he has made significant contributions to education and social welfare. He has served as Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard, a deemed-to-be university, and is the Founder and President of the Unani Drug Manufacturers Association (UDMA).
Ahmed is actively involved in philanthropic initiatives through his association with the Hamdard National Foundation (India) and the Hamdard Learning and Welfare Society. His work focuses on education, skill development, employment generation, and upliftment of economically weaker sections of society.
In recognition of his contributions to community service, he was awarded the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club of Delhi South in 2022. His initiatives included large-scale vaccination drives, tree plantation campaigns, and holistic COVID care health camps.
He has also served as a Non-Executive Independent Director on the boards of several prominent organizations, including Religare Enterprises Limited, Religare Finvest Limited, Religare Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited, Care Health Insurance Limited, and Religare Broking Limited.
